I am Lucia Schweigert, a German-Chilean dance artist living in London. I work as a freelance dancer and I am the artistic director of Lucidez Dance and recently I started co-producing the Kaleidoscopic Arts Platform with Konstantina Skalionta.

I believe in full-hearted commitment and impeccable work ethic in everything I do.

As a dancer I try to embody and communicate human truth and I seek the ritualistic absorption movement can give. I enjoy the fact that my artistic career is in its early stage and that every step is new and exciting. I see my chosen profession as a huge, nerve-wrecking and very rewarding adventure full of exhaustion, hard work and deep beauty.

Together with Konstantina Skalionta I co-produce the Kaleidoscopic Arts Platform. We create Kaleidoscopic to bring audiences and artists closer together by using an unconventional performance space that removes the traditional hierarchy between performers and the audience and by inviting frank post-performance discussion between audience, choreographers and performers. At Kaleidoscopic we want to give early stage choreographers the opportunity to share their works with a diverse public.

For the works of Lucidez Dance I am interested in how historic developments affect our personalities and our behaviour and in the formation, manifestation and communication of identity, in particular female identity and cultural and national identity.

My choreographic process is informed by curiosity, brain-storming, improvisation and internal visualisations of the developing work.

I believe in the power of kinaesthetic empathy and seek to create impactful atmospheres visually and physically through music, striking colours and expressive choreography.

My work does not fight or scream, it asks questions and invites its audiences and its performers to think and engage.

I endeavour ultimately for the works of Lucidez Dance to play a small but important part in brightening and clarifying the human experience.
