Mother London

Calling all filmmakers, writers, designers, photographers, producers, advertising champs and all-round creative thinkers – boy, oh boy do we have exciting news for you all!

We've joined forces with leading creative company Mother to offer IdeasTap members the ultimate in creative challenges. Mother are recognised as one of the world’s most creative agencies, working with iconic brands such as IKEA, Boots and PG Tips among many more. Over the next 10 weeks, we'll be running 10 x 10 x Mother, a programme of multidisciplinary advertising-led briefs designed to help you to think conceptually and develop your portfolio.

So, what's up for grabs?

  • The overall winner of the programme will receive a coveted six-week paid internship at Mother London's offices.
  • We're giving away an additional £5,000 in prize money (£500 per brief).
  • The winner and two runners-up of each brief will receive personalised feedback on their work from leading industry masterminds.
  • Mother will showcase the best submissions in a special exhibition and private view at its offices this autumn.

Each week's brief will focus on a different discipline or area relating to the world of advertising.  You can apply for as few or as many of these briefs as you want but, if you complete all ten, you'll find you have a broad range of interesting projects for your portfolio.

Whether you’re an aspiring advertising creative or not, we're sure you'll enjoy the challenges presented by these briefs!

We have lots of resources to help you apply too, such as this nifty little glossary of advertising terms to help demystify any jargon.

Film Brief
Film projects in advertising are not an exact science.

From in-house mood films to big-budget TV commercials, each project has its own particular barriers to completion, be it time, budget or just a challenging brief. This brief is intended to challenge you on pretty much all those at once.

Kickstarter Brief
When all you need is the money to get you off the ground, genius platforms like Kickstarter can make your ideas possible.

The brief is simple – upload an idea to Kickstarter and the person with the best idea and most funding not only wins the brief, but they also have a business in the making…

Christmas Brief

Every year Mother creates a project for Christmas that they can send out to their clients and friends that shows Mother at its creative best. They aim to create something that makes the creative community think “I wish we’d thought of that”.

Mother are asking IdeasTap members to come up with an idea to make more people not just aware, but excited about IKEA’s exciting outdoor range.
