The Old Vic 24 Plays Celebrity Gala

Last Sunday saw the seventh 24 Hour Plays Celebrity Gala at The Old Vic. A host of brilliant British talent – including Mackenzie Crook, Mathew Horne and Lily Cole – turned up to battle their way through one of theatre’s toughest challenges, and all to raise money for our beloved Old Vic New Voices. Luckily, IdeasMag were on hand to catch some of the famous folk to ask: what is the best bit of career advice you’ve ever been given...?

Six plays, twenty four hours, a full house and more stars than the milky way: It has to be The 24 Hour Plays Celebrity Gala at The Old Vic, hosted by his royal Welshness, Rob Brydon.

The plays – written by Jack Thorne, Nick Payne, Tanika Gupta, Amy Rosenthal, Roy Williams and James Graham – ranged from domestic tension across the ping-pong table and spread-eagled birthing comedy to sci-fi fascism and a sisterly play with music, including a little singing solo from Lily Cole.

Post-interval entertainment was provided by the cast of the OVNV musical Epidemic, with their fantastic song Black Dog bringing huge applause from those in front of and behind the scenes.

Congratulations to all on another 24 Hour theatrical triumph!
