Networking and collaboration
We've tried to make it as easy as possible for you to find people to work with on IdeasTap. With 25,000 members from a huge range of creative disciplines, whatever project you're working on we've got people who can help. Find out how to track them down...
Depp and Burton, Gilbert and George, Brand and Perry. When artists work together, anything can happen. That’s why we want to help you get your collaboration on.
IdeasTap has always been about encouraging creative people to work together and network, and with the new site we’ve done our best to make sure it’s easier than ever to find people to work with.
You’ll find "Your collaborators" in your Profile when you’re logged in, and it’s where you can tell the IdeasTap Community what you’re looking for.
Filmmaker in need of actors? Writer after a producer? Journalist looking for a photographer?
If you set the discipline you’re after then the site will recommend suitable people to you. You can even specify dates and the region where you’ll be working. On the flip side, if you’ve set your own disciplines (go to Preferences within your Profile) then you can see people in need of your particular skill-set.
But if you’d rather just have a bit of a browse, there are other ways to find out who’s out there and make contact.
If you use the Advanced Search tool you can look for people according to the disciplines they’ve listed in their profile. So you can search for directors, writers or illustrators, for example, and then take a look at their profiles and portfolios to find out more about their work.
Equally, you can find people with similar interests to you by clicking on the disciplines on your profile page. You’ll then be shown a list of all the IdeasTap members who work in the same field as you. Not a bad way to check out the competition.
More interested in people’s portfolios than their profiles? Then find a portfolio you like, hit “Presentation View” and then follow the “View similar portfolio” link to scroll through lots of other people’s work. Beware: it’s addictive.
Finally, don’t forget about our new Forums, where you can ask for (or offer) help and advice and chat to other IdeasTap members.
There are around 25,000 of you on IdeasTap, and you’re an amazingly diverse bunch. We want to make it as easy as possible for you all to find each other, communicate and collaborate.
