Epidemic: Get involved
The new Old Vic New Voices community musical, written by the brilliant Morgan Lloyd-Malcolm, is rude with health and exciting ideas. All it needs now is a shot in the arm from the very talented IdeasTap community. Find out how you can get involved here…
Following on from the staggering success of Platform – OVNV’s community show of 2010 – Epidemic is a brilliant new musical, commissioned and produced by Old Vic New Voices’ Community team. It will take place at The Old Vic Tunnels from 20 to 27 May 2012 and they’re looking for people like you – yes, you – to get involved.
The show is about Marlon – a mental health patient who, out of fear of getting sectioned, ends up breaking into a mobility bus. The only problem is the vehicle is already being ridden by two fellow patients. What follows is a road trip, a journey of discovery and a slice of musical mayhem.
The team behind Epidemic is looking for 50 performers to take part in the show. They need 30 people to make up the chorus (who will be on stage for almost all of the performance), who need to be able to do a bit of dancing, a little bit of singing and a few of whom will have speaking parts.
There are also 10 principal, speaking roles, including Marlon himself and 10 musicians, who will play live in the band.
If you’re over 16, can make it to rehearsals in London and want to join in, then get yourself down to the auditions from 3 to 5 March at the Spring Project in Vauxhall.
To find out more about the auditions, visit the OVNV Community page.
As well as performers, Epidemic needs a team of backstage workers. Those roles are:
Company Stage Manager
Deputy Stage Manager
Assistant Stage Manager
Associate Director
Associate Producer
Designer
These jobs are all paid and you can find more details on our jobs page.
So, get involved, get healthy and good luck!
