We graduated from Warwick University in July 2011 in Theatre and Performance, and collaborated on many projects throughout our university careers. Our first large-scale project was an adaptation of Shelagh Stephenson’s radio play Five Kinds of Silence. Having been selected to perform at the National Student Drama Festival in 2011, we won the Fest-Goer’s Award for Best Production.

Whole Hog Theatre was born of a determination to obtain the highest possible standards in everything we do. Our productions employ bold concepts to re-invent existing works of art, merging dialogue, puppetry, and dance theatre. Frustrated by the proliferation of ‘safe’ theatre, we aspire to create committed, honest and imaginative work. Our open company also offers opportunities for emerging artists to gain professional experience in a frequently insular industry.

'To be second is not to be secondary or inferior; likewise, to be first is not to be originary or authoritative. Art is derived from other art, stories are born of other stories...'
- Linda Hutcheon, 'A Theory of Adaptation', 2006

Whole Hog Theatre will present the world's first theatrical staging of Hayao Miyazaki's renowned animated film between 2nd - 6th April 2013 at the New Diorama Theatre in London.
Using giant puppets made from recycled materials, visceral, physical storytelling and original live music, Studio Ghibli's epic ecological fable is retold for the stage.
