I believe we must express ourselves through a variety of media rather than just one. I feel it is important to explore the range of artistic possibilities. For instance, my photographic work is based on recreating well-known paintings. This relies on taking the original artist’s ideas and analyzing the concept to express my own ideas and reaction to the original work. Another example is the project based on portraits of various artists (within visual arts, music, design, theatre, dance) in a way, which correspond to their artistic work. For instance, in making a portrait of a contemporary dancer the context in terms of location is crucial so that it corresponds to their practice. Working with a modern dancer I felt that the context of street art fulfilled this.
Completely different challenge in my practice is making 3D artist’s books. This involves working with a defined object, a book as raw material to work with. These are book-like objects, which are worked into a sculptural form, over which the artist has a high degree of control. For instance, a book for a classical composer could be folded out in a form of a cathedral with a music device (a CD) inside playing his music, which is often performed in cathedrals.
