The Legends of Helston Develops

02/02/13 at 02:07

Last day for applications today! Dun dun dun! I have got Thomas Sharpe, one of the organisers of 24 Hour Comic Etc, which I took part in back in 2011. That was a jolly good event and one that inspired me to set up The Legends of Helston.

What else is happening, you say?

Storyteller Joanna Schofield is preparing some tales for us.

Cornwall Air Ambulance are delighted to be the official charity. A percentage of profits from sales of completed artworks will be donated to them. I am also thinking... a raffle? I do love raffles. Everyone gets to feel selfless and yet consumerist at the same time. Although, disclaimer here - I hate gambling. But raffles... Well, maybe it's like the alcoholic who drinks the communion wine; a morally acceptable taste of it. Of course, it's not just raffles. I love Guess the Name and tombola and... well, I can't remember many others actually. My parents always ran the Treasure Hunt - which was a drawing you had to stick pins in, not a run-run kind - so I didn't get to take part in that. Wasn't so keen on the sideshows - too much like sports lesson - and not so much into the Guess the Weight competition - too much like a Maths lesson.

And, most exciting: local cartoonist Nick Brennan of Beano fame has agreed to appear and show off his skills before juding the children's art competition.
