Hi all!! My name is stacey, I am 21 years old and i am a dancer.Ever since i was young dance has always been a great and dear passion of mine, over the years ive studied and undertaken exams in various styles and genres of dance such as Acrobatics, Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Modern. Whilst doing so i also took medal tests in Ballroom, Latin American and Rock n Roll dancing. It all started when at the age of 5 i took part in the community pantomime, for a few select scenes i was required to have ballet shoes. This prompted my joining of the Kids & Co School of Dance in Newark. Whilst there i took part in numerous shows, performances, competitions and examinations in all subjects previously mentioned. I went to Sir William Robertson High School and gained GCSEs in Maths,Science,German,Sociology,Graphics,Drama and Applied Performing Arts. From there i went on to Grantham College where i studied BTEC First Diploma Performing Arts for 1 year and i passed with a Merit. I went on to study at Grantham for another 2 years which i studied BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts i found this course very enjoyable and rewarding and i passed with Distinction, Merit, Merit.Currently i am in my third and final year of studying BA Hons Dance at the University of Lincoln. I have found this challenging yet rewarding in that the most part of the course is based around Contemporary Dance and prior to the course i had never studied this genre of dance before. As i have got older i have come to realise that teaching is extremely rewarding so to further this i also took a four part exam in Cheerleading and Stunt/Tumbling Coaching, and i am now a fully qualified coach. I am currently working with a small group of young people in nottinghamshire facilitating creative lessons and working with them to create dances to take to competitions and performances across the region and further afield. I do think that there is a lack of contemporary training that is accessible to all young people in the region and in the future i am looking to create a community dance space whereby dance of all different styles and genres can become more accessible to all individuals.
