Hi, I'm a photographer and most recently video commissioner living in London, I love travel, mangos, music and frisbee. For the past couple years I've been focusing more on documentary photography while also continuing to build my portfolio of music photography. The first time I was hired to photograph a band it was Test-Icicles at Reading festival in 2005, and I got the bug, since then I've photographed press shoots, album artwork and documentary projecs for labels such as Polydor, Domino and Universal. Last year I fullfilled a 5 year ambition to travel and photograph through the Japanese countryside, meeting what may be the final generation to really use and live off the land in any real traditional sense. This is part of a series of trips I hope to take in the future visiting areas around the world where traditional rural life is still going strong. The big challenge was picking through the thousands of photographs and memories to choose 25 shots for the exhibition which was held at the Orange Dot Gallery in Bloomsbury, London. If you're interested in finding out more then check out my blog from the trip at www.samseager.co.uk - JAPANI really enjoy seeing the work of new photographers especially in book form and checking out what's happening on the Ideastap website.Oh and I run a music blog and night with some friends called Oh! Inverted World, check it out at www.ohinvertedworld.co.uk, it's the third Thursday every month and free so come along : )Sam

Hi Sam - is this the same Sam who used to work for WILD all those years ago? I spoke to you back then about your photo aspirations, and you seem to be doing fantastically well! Congrats :-) (one of your old teamers!) - Alex

I will do my best to make it to the opening night, as it's always great to meet a person behind the lens, but if not, I'll come around some other day! Also, I have a friend visiting me now - another photographer from Croatia. In fact, when I was traveling in China, he was waiving to me from across the see while on his journey to Japan, so you will have something to talk about!I know, Japan must have cost you a fortune! How long were you there for? And is the exhibition the first time the photos are going to be shown? Or were they published somewhere?I had an exhibition opening 9 days after returning from China - craziest idea ever!:)Have you been to any other places in Asia? Or have you made photos-essays about some other places? And what are you doing while in the UK? Is music photography the main focus of your work then?I try to avoid putting any large-size photos online (for obvious reasons), but you should be able to view them slightly bigger on my website. I'm thinking about another exhibition, perhaps in London this time (and with a bit more preparation), but will need to find somebody else to join me (so if you decide to run another show...:)Love and peace,Tina

Hello Sam,You have some really interesting work on your website and blog and I'll do my best to come to your exhibition (good luck with it anyway!)I love traveling... once you are out of the day-to-day routine and the world around you is so fascinating and different from what you are used to, I just want to capture every bit of it to take with me, to make a part of me... The most inspiring moment!:)So was you trip to Japan self-funded, or were you so lucky to get it as a commission?Love and peace,Tina
