About me

Alex Ruth Bertulis-Fernandes is a twenty year old Londoner. She was a Barbican Poet from 2011-2012 and helped curate two performances at the Southbank Centre’s ‘Poetry Parnassus’ in 2012. As an Editor for Spinebreakers, Penguin’s online community for teenagers, she reviewed books, interviewed authors and reported on literary events from 2010 to early 2014. Alex was also a participant in the National Theatre’s ‘New Views’ playwriting programme and a WOWser, a young ambassador for the Southbank Centre’s Women of the World festival in 2013, where she spoke on a panel about young people and feminism. She was a participant in the National Theatre's Young Studio: Season 6 and is currently a member of the Burn After Reading Poetry Collective. Alex loves graphic design and illustration and has her own shop on Society6 and RedBubble.
