About me

Rachel Jean Birch is based between Newcastle upon Tyne and London, working simultaneously as a dancer, choreographer, teacher and producer. Rachel currently performs with Surface Area Dance Theatre and in March 2015 will be taking part in The Clore Emerging Leaders Programme in Warwickshire.

Rachel also works for Dance City (Newcastle), Siobhan Davies Studios (London) and Theatre Royal Newcastle.

Rachel graduated from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in 2010 with a major in Choreography.

Rachel and artist Hannah Marshall co-produce FRESH, a scratch platform for dance artists. (www.freshnortheast.com)

  • Wow it sounds like you are doing a lot! What is your company?
    I am very well thank you. At the moment I am teaching, performing, choreography and working on a variety of different projects. One is an event that I am project managing and another is a piece of choreography that I am taking to schools in the area. Lots of exciting things, just very hard work! I'm sorry for the late reply, I hope Christmas prepartions are going well! x
