About me

An imaginative, expressive, bold dance maker; I create, perform, and teach internationally, collaborating with a wide range of artists. My work spans dance, opera, theatre, and music theatre. Long-term collaborators include composer Jack James and performer Khyle Eccles.

Trained at London Contemporary Dance School, I continued my studies as one of twelve selected choreographers on European Choreographic Programme Dance Beyond Borders (Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Portugal, UK).

I have created more than twenty works for professional artists and community organisations, described as “visceral”, “evocative”, and “strikingly original” - “radical physical style” (Die Welt). My work has been performed in the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, Norway, Ireland, France, and South Africa, to critical acclaim.

I have taught extensively, including at University of the Witwatersrand (South Africa), London Metropolitan University, Leipziger Tanztheater (Germany), and YMT, the national youth music theatre company for young people.

Partners and supporters for my work include:
Arts Council England,
South East Dance,
Kent County Council
The Bridge organisations Artswork and Royal Opera House Bridge
British Council, South Africa

Newington Community Association,

I am Artistic Director of Tall Tales Big Moves, a dance theatre company based in Thanet, East Kent. We create work for younger audiences and deliver innovative community outreach and engagement programmes. Currently Lead Arts Organisation, Thanet, for INSPIRE "Leading through Culture" - part of the Kent Olympic Legacy Schools Programme.

My passion is movement, its power to communicate meaning. Connecting performer and audience by inviting them to become co-creators of a shared experience: inspired by work that speaks individually to them: relevant, meaningful, readable work, with simplicity and immediacy – real life, real people, real emotions.

  • Lab10 Theatre Collective is looking for performers for 2011!
If you have new work of any kind that you are looking to share we want to hear from you...
Lab10 began a monthly residency at the Leicester Square Theatre in October 2010 and we are currently curating our next Lab sessions for 2011.
The Lab takes place on the last Wednesday of every month as follows:
    23 February, 30 March, 27 April, 25 May, 29 June
Doors open at 7.30pm and the show starts at 8pm
It works like this... 10 acts, 10 minutes each to show their work to an appreciative live audience.
Whether it be a play reading, comedy, alternative music, performance art, poetry, cabaret, puppetry, mime, spoken-word, dance or burlesque the stage can be yours for a mere £15 performance fee.
LAB10 takes place 10 times throughout the year (see the theme here...), tickets are £10 and the objective is simple; To offer an affordable evening for people who want an element of the unexpected in their night out and to offer diverse acts a performance platform for their talents.
We are already receiving applications from both new and established acts for 2011 so we welcome your submissions.
For more information visit our Submit to Lab10 page on our website www.fourthmonkey.co.uk
