Biography

Nessah graduated with a First Class honours degree in Theatre Practice from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and also holds an MPhil (B) in Playwriting Studies from the University of Birmingham. In June 2014 Nessah completed an attachment at the Royal Court Theatre and is currently a member of the Royal Court Summer Group 2014. Nessah is also a writer-on-attachment to HighTide Festival Theatre, Escalator Plays. Nessah is currently under commission to Old Vic New Voices, Pursued By A Bear Productions and Carissa Hope Lynch and Blake Morris for This is not a Slog , at Ovalhouse. Most recently Nessah co-devised and wrote: Gastronauts , a theatre adventure with food, for the Royal Court Theatre. Other theatre work includes: Pickaninny , longlisted for the Bruntwood Prize 2013, Nazma , produced by Kali Theatre for the 'Twelve' project, at Tristan Bates Theatre, Hungry , which played at the Royal Court Theatre as part of the ‘Lost in Theatre’ strand of the Open Court Festival and Freya and Mr Mushroom , which was commissioned by The Building Site Theatre Company and Southwark Playhouse as part of the ‘Hotel Confessions’ season. About me

I am writer working across: theatre, film and television.

I am particularly interested in creating politically charged work, which offers new alternatives in terms of both its content and form. I draw heavily on the practice used by visual and performance artists. I create visual artworks as part of my writing process, and I am interested in the visual language that this work affords me.
