About me

Nathan Williams is a informal educator and an award winning filmmaker. Over the past 4 years Nathan’s career has developed into 2 main strands, ‘Specialist Informal Education’ and ‘Film Production’.

Nathan works for The Rural Media Company (RMC), an award-winning charity working throughout the UK that uses film to produce high-impact media work which strengthens rural communities. Through participatory arts work, RMC has produced projects for Big Lottery, Into Film, BFI, Heritage Lottery Fund and many other funders. The work Nathan does usually involves facilitating young people and communities to find empowerment and development through media and film training. Since joining the company in 2011, Nathan has contributed to the RMC team and as part of the RMC team and produced over 200 short fictional films and documentaries and worked with over 3000.

Currently, Nathan is a Digital Media Worker for The Rural Media Company’s and a Film Mentor through BFI Film Academy 2013-2015 and a Lighting Cameraman and Editor for ‘Hay Levels’ – 3 minute inspirational video lectures from the world’s top academics through The Hay Festival.

In his spare time, Nathan has most recently enjoyed success as a finalist in Raindance’s British Independent Series Award 2014, as one of the top 10 producers of a pilot web series. Over the past 5 years since leaving Staffordshire University with a BSc in Film Production Technology and Management, Nathan has won many awards for his independent short films as well as one feature film ‘Money Kills’ which had an international release in 2012, produced by Sherringham Studios.

As of September 2014, Nathan is studying a distance learning degree (BA) with the YMCA George Williams College in Youth Work, Community, Learning and Development, contributing to the work that The Rural Media Company produce.
Before coming to Hereford, I had my own corporate video marketing business in Staffordshire producing short viral ads for small to medium sized enterprises.

I still work on my own material, most can be seen on my youtube page, see links on my profile.
