I am a documentary photographer, interested in the environment and our connection to it, the relationships we form with it and the way we have come to treat it. I grew up on a small Island in the north of Scotland, surrounded by farming and fishing and with people who had a deep understanding of how nature worked, what the seasons meant and how to work with, instead of against the environment.

The way we now produce to keep up with consumer demands has to be faster, bigger, better and much, much more - but with that comes a price. The bees are dying because of the pesticides we spray and the monocultures we grow, the land is struggling from the chemicals we use and the stress of the ever changing climate, farmers cant make a living because of the demand for cheap food and cheap clothes, everything is turned on its head and the more you look, the more complex it becomes, inter-connected with politics, consumption and economics, the spiral just keeps spinning with no one to blame and no one accountable, yet everyone participating.

My work celebrates the diversity of our planet and the people in it, recording the traditions, cultures and the little quirks which make us so unique from each other, whilst hoping to give a voice to the people who are struggling against our growing consumer demands and our disconnection from the environment. I tell the stories off people whose lifestyle and culture are at threat off being wiped out by our increasingly homogenised World.
