Evolution Sick and Tired

'Sick and tired' explores the 'accepted every day sickness' of our society. The 20 minute choreography shows four people being stuck in their individual madness. Main idea: 'As long as a strange behaviour of an individual is not interfering with their lives, members of the society will not bother.’ It portrays and exaggerates the emotional and mental state and displays the danger of taking the threat of degenerating too lightly. The style is inspired by the visionary teachings of Pina Bausch and her 'Wuppertaler Tanztheater'

About me

I studied at the Fokwang University in Germany, then danced in a dance theatre company for 3 years before I decided to become a freelance dancer, teacher and choreographer. Both the university and the company worked by the simple guideline: LESS IS MORE. In order to find movements and create material for the pieces, the dancers are very much part of the creating process by giving 'answers' to questions asked by the choreographer. The idea is always, to use the technique in order to create purposeful and deep movements, never to to move just for the sake of moving.
Since 2003,I have taught workshops in contemporary dance, ballet, and improvisation and I have lead classes for various professional companies, including Alvin Ailey II, Tanztheater Bielefeld and the Origen Festival in Switzerland.

I moved to London in April 2014 and taught workshops or ongoing classes at The Place, Trinity and Laban, Morley College, The Cockpit Theatre and artsdepot.
I recently choreographed for East London Dance as part of the FI.ELD Festival.
It would be great to connect to other dancers, teachers and choreographers and network.

    I am happy to let you know, we will have live music for the second hour tomorrow, which will be pretty exciting.

    Hannah Ashman is an improvising musician with a background in classical music, jazz, and, most recently, action theatre and will be joining us for the session tomorrow.
    She has a strong interest in the way music connects people to themselves and to each other, and is currently training as a music therapist at Nordoff Robbins. She also runs singing and improvisation workshops for a variety of charities and organisations, including Core Arts, Global Generation and Body & Soul, as well as offices such as Mumsnet and Euromonitor. Many of her projects and continuing musical explorations are with the SHE Collective, which recently had an artists' residency at Aldeburgh Beach South Lookout (June 2014).

    Would be great to see many of you tomorrow. It will be a lot about vibes and energy. Not to be missed
