As a designer in performance, I enjoy the element of play, and believe a performance should be just as interactive for the audience as it is for the performers. In my work I like to look at space, how it can change and be manipulated to effect a performance. I try to incorporate the space into the narrative as much as possible. My work angles more towards a surreal vein rather than naturalistic. This forces the performers to use their entire knowledge of movement and gesture to express themselves.

Since graduating from the University of Leeds in 2009, I have developed my obsession with puppetry and masks through working with other artists, designers and schools as a maker, designer and puppeteer. These projects have varied in style from Commedia Dell'Arte theatre, music videos and film for BBC. This has given me the rounded knowledge and expertise to give my set and costume designs the grounding they need to work within any performance setting. I have also delivered puppet making, art, design and costume making workshops as a Youth Arts Worker, mainly with Void Arts, in schools and youth clubs since 2009.

My work is made, where possible, from recycled materials. This gives a new life to lost and broken objects and provides an antidote to modern technologically focused performance practices.
