Hi there!
Welcome to my super exciting Ideastap profile.
If plays are your thing then do have a glance through my portfolio at some of the ones what I wrote. I've also listed them below along with some details and reviews so you can see where and when I've put them on and what people had to say about them (obviously I haven't included many negative comments, this is my page after all and I have Trotskied them out of history).
I am also one half of Misshapen Theatre with Lucy Jackson, and together with Claire Turner we curate and produce Blast Off! at the Soho Theatre - the galaxy's only science fiction theatre night. In the last year we've put on nearly twenty new plays by writers such as Kenny Emson, Gabriel Bisset-Smith, Melissa Bubnic, Sara Pascoe, Tom Morton-Smith and Ali McDowall.
Last year I was part of the writing team for Cartoon Network's BAFTA award winning show The Amazing World of Gumball, and my script Meanwhile, Ten Years Ago - which I wrote with Suzi Ruffell - was shortlisted for the BAFTA Rocliffe New Writing Forum. But if that sounds impressive I also worked on The Now Show for an episode and didn't have a single joke used, had two pitches rejected by Radio 4 because the commissioner 'couldn't see what was even supposed to be funny', and was fired from HMV for being really bad at working at HMV. So y'know, context.
Anyway, if you'd like something written, want to perform something I've already written, or just fancy getting in touch then please do, the email is jonathan.brittain (@) gmail.com.
Take care and drive safely!
Jon

‘There has been a lot of advance talk about Jonathan Brittain’s play [The Wake], which won the Judges’ Award for Comedy in last year’s National Student Drama Festival. The talk has been worth it – as has the wait, since this is a sizzling piece of comic theatre.’
