GOOD GRIEF Treatment : Jack Rooke The show is split into sections, using audio visual content to link each section of the show. *This treatment is only the first draft from the R&D in November, and is not a full indication of the final show that will be presented in Edinburgh. * Section 1 is introducing the show, Jack as a performer, and getting audience members to put comfort food into the coffin (buffet-cart). The show begins as soon as the audience arrive into the space, with music playing and comfort food being handed out to audience members. Bereaved audience members are encouraged to make themselves known in order to get sweets and chocolate - with the idea being that often bereaved people are treated differently and offered special treatment. Set is brightly lit, with coffin to the left entrance of the stage, a chair and table in the centre, and a lectern with lots of microphones at stage right. There is an “awkward-o-meter” on wheels which is designed to move around the set, which Jack uses as light relief if suddenly the show becomes very serious. This is designed to make light of the fact death is awkward...
