It’s slap bang in the middle of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and we’ve arrived to bring you the latest from this fantastic festival first hand. Over the next week we’ll be blogging and tweeting from the festival, and trying to see as many IdeasTap members performances as possible.

We kicked off the week with the High Tide Arts Club, a showcase event produced on behalf of IdeasTap by the Ideas Fund Edinburgh winners, High Tide. With a mixture of performance poetry, a BAFTA nominated film, verbatim protest theatre and a very special guest appearance from actor and director Samuel West, the evening was a great success. Samuel West’s performance was mesmerizing, with an over arching theme of oppression, it was also very enlightening. The performances drew to a close with a lighthearted piece from Made In China, where we witnessed a girl drinking an entire bottle of Cava in a minute and eating a whole packet of digestives whilst telling the story of Superman. Unsurprisingly, this got a little messy for everyone sitting in the front row…

Many previous Ideas Fund winners also came to the event, and it was great to hear how well everyone is doing. Theatre Ninja’s have already had well over a 1000 downloads of the free app, and the reviews for both Lidless and The Last Miner have been very complimentary. We also saw the lovely Natalie Ibu from Remix (who organized the Art Club), Alan Ramsay, a Big Ideas Fund winner; Gareth Morgan, a winner from last springs NSDF competition; Tom Chick, an Ideas Fund Shorts winner and Tom Atkin, an Ideas Fund Edinburgh judge.

Today we’re off to see our Ideas Fund winners, and to see how many shows we can cram into one day…

Check out our twitter feed for all of the latest news and quick fire reviews, but we’ll be back tomorrow with a full run down of day two at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival
