I recently graduated from University College Falmouth incorporating Dartington College of the Arts with a first class degree. My work is about exposing what might be considered universal human behaviors with the use of satire. I am particularly interested in the use of memory as a choreographic tool within work. Through performance a memory, or a certain trace of a memory, is created via people watching, documenting or talking about the work. However, through working with memory as a choreographic tool and through research, I have begun to uncover the possible problematic quality of memory. Most of my recent work uses memory as a choreographic tool to explore certain theorists ideas of the importance of memory to a construction of a sense of self. However, through my work I have also uncovered the unreliability of memory to this endeavor. I also try and encourage the performers I am working with to see how the potential unreliability of memory can be problematically interesting within the choreography. Through theoretical research, my own practice and watching the work of others I want to expose and create a body/mind connection that, I feel, is important to performance work. I currently work as Programme Development Assistant at Dance Research Studio and Artistic Director of Coegi.
