  • Kickstarter Progress for The Hive

    10/09/13 at 00:51

Our Kickstarter campaign went live just 6 days ago and we are already 55% funded. Suffice to say, the company are really pleased with progress so far. In part, this success has been due to being put in the Top 3 on the 'Staff Picks' section for theatre across the UK and US, which helped us gain some valuable exposure. We're still busy promoting the campaign in every way we can, and are hoping we can raie more than our target of £1250, and get a little closer to our final budget goal of £3000.
  • Making a Baby (The Hive)

    18/06/13 at 14:02 — edited 18/06/13 at 14:03

It's official. All the little bits and pieces needed to create the puppet character 'Nabalu' for The Hive, have now been sculpted and formed. Other than the clay used to make her face and hands, Nabalu is made entirely of recycled household items and materials - as is always the aim at Human Zoo. (Tin foil, plastic bags, bubble wrap, bamboo sticks, gardening wire, scrap fabric, lots and lots of glue and a second hand baby-gro, to be precise.)

The weird and wonderful world of prop/ set/ costume sourcing is one that we find particularly enjoyable at Human Zoo.

Sitting watching Angela and Guy warm up, knowing they'd already been there for a good half an hour before Lee and I arrived, I immediately got the sense that there was an established atmosphere at Improbable rehearsals that most companies will probably never achieve. That sounds like a very big, gushy statement, but honestly, I really believe it.
