This is an extract from a longer piece, called Norma's Colours, which is an experimental documentary about a woman who died and left to her daughter a collection of extraordinary objects (including the smock dresses which can be seen in this extract.) Norma’s Colours is a reflection of the film maker’s fascination with the psychology of the collector, expressed in her film-making with the enlivening of the objects themselves.

A magical window into a collection of miniature wooden carved animals, made by a village toy maker named Frank Whittington (1876 - 1973), who lived in Brockenhurst, Hampshire. The story is told through local people who believe in the charm of his toys.
