Theatre can be a powerful tool in encouraging positive social change.

Emma Callander is a freelance director passionate about creating brave new work. She often collaborates with other artists across a range of performance disciplines, from new writing to circus. Emma is also Co-Artistic Director of Theatre Uncut with Hannah Price.

She has recently directed for the Bristol Old Vic, Play, a Pie and a Pint at Oran Mor Glasgow, the Tobacco Factory Bristol, Theatre 503, the Arches Glasgow, Camden People's Theatre and companies Travelling Light and Stand and Stare.

Emma also created the Arcadia Spectacular pyrotechnic circus show for the Glastonbury Festival 2011 in collaboration with Pip Rush and Bert Cole of Arcadia and aerial director Ettie Boop.

Trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama and resident at the National Theatre of Scotland under the Regional Theatre Young Director's Scheme 09/10.
