Having studied both Art and Textiles at A-level, I have started my own business which taps into my creative talent. I run workshops for young children between the ages of 2 to 11 years, in children's centres, libraries, schools and art venues... and any other place that will have me! Each and every workshop is varied and tailored, which means I have to be constantly thinking of new ideas. My first brand, Femtinos - The World of Alien Pen Pals, is based on four fictional aliens who travel across the universe and want to be in touch with Earthlings. All workshops are delivered through this theme and have an educational element too. The children take part in quizes, hands-on creative activities and even letter-writing to the aliens (and yes they get a personalised response!).
I am now looking to expand the brand into other avenues; theatre? books? cartoons? apps? The ideas are endless.... Just need to find the right people to collaborate with (oh yes, and the funding too!). It is still very early days yet and I am not earning a salary.... yet....... Talk about bootstrapping!
