My First Set
Self was our third dance piece of 2011 . We were commissioned by Ferens art Gallery to create a dance piece inspired by the New York Surrealist Photographer Francessca Woodman. We created our dance piece around her photographic images and show iconic movements/poses from the photos. Curve dancers are currently in rehearsal stages and soon collabporating with Wyke college As/a level Dance students to perform with us. Since 2011 we have created some interesting pieces. We are exploring the opportunities and themes of dances we can create. Stay tuned for images and videos. Our dance performance 'Beautifully Broken' will be performed on Wednesday 27th June at Wyke college Theatre, Hull. 7pm.

The site specific piece was based in the art gallery and to use the inspiration and the space around use to create a piece. We were specifically interested in the idea of old classical art moving to scultured, modern day art. Art changes all the time. Our audience on our performance became our artwork too. My First Set

About me

I am the head of Curve Contemporary dance company set in Hull, Yorkshire. We have been set up since April 2011, so far we have produced three major dance pieces and each have been performed. We plan to develop Curve as a company for Hull.
I am a project manager and dance development worker at an arts organisation called Artlink in Hull, working for the British heart foundation project Dance from the Heart for Hearty lives Hull, setting up dance workshops in wards around Hull for women and helping raise awareness of cardiovascular health.
I am also choreographer/artist for East Riding youth dance , Last year i was artist for the Hessle group and this year i have been moved to Goole.
I have been a dancer for majority of my life specialising in lots of styles. I am mainly trained now in Contemporary dance and this is what i want to futher my working career in and encourage more contemporary dance in Hull.
