About me

Charlotte Henson is a freelance poet based in Burnley, UK, originally from Bury, Greater Manchester. Her poetry has been published in various places including The Morning Star, Rising, Sculpted: Poetry of the North West and Writers' Forum. She is the winner of the Erbacce-Press Prize 2013 and is currently the sole editor of young creative zine 'Astronaut'. Her first collection, Every Street, will be published by Erbacce in 2013.

Outside the written word, Charlotte also embraces the power of performance and face-to-face interaction with an audience in conveying a message. For this reason, she has performed at many open mics across Greater Manchester and performed guest slots for nights such as Bang! Said The Gun, Write Out Loud and Open Mind. She has given readings at Bury Library and Bolton School. She has organizes and hosts her own night called Once More With Meaning at The Met in Bury. Previous guests have included Jo Bell, John Siddique and Ben Mellor. She is currently Wigan Words festival slam champion.

  • I'm based in the East of England, so I mainly perform in Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex. I've done a few gigs in London but I've never ventured 'up north'. Would really love to go to places like Manchester, Newcastle, and Liverpool though. Any recommendations for good open mic nights? -x-
