Short film entry for the Sci-Fi London Film Challenge 2013. Story and characters were devised in one day and the film was shot and edited on the next. Given Parameters: Title: The Key Prop: A Torch Dialogue: "Shoulder pads? We're not in the 80s now."

About me

Ben Holden is a writer/director and founder of Fleetfoot Studios, a film production studio based in Newcastle upon Tyne.

He has won awards for cinematography and writing, and has successfully completed several short films and a pilot episode for an animated sci-fi web series called Dissident Wire which was developed through a fellowship at the Institute of Digital Innovation.

Ben typically works in the genres of fantasy, sci-fi and magic realism, often exploring the conflicted relationship between human beings and the more than human world.

When he is not writing or making films, Ben is probably working with Co-Hydro, a company he co-founded in 2012 which specialises in the design and installation of micro-hydro systems (they generate clean energy using water borrowed from rivers). An aspiration of the company is to part finance feature film and transmedia projects in the future.
