CREATIVE PRODUCER, REAL CIRCUMSTANCE
I founded and run Real Circumstance with Artistic Director Dan Sherer. Real Circumstance is a Colchester-based theatre company dedicated to exploring new ways of playmaking; to working with emergent artists; and to raising the profile of the East as a centre of creative work.

For Real Circumstance, I have produced the new plays LIMBO by Declan Feenan, LOUGH/RAIN by Declan Feenan and Clara Brennan, and "Our Share of Tomorrow" by Dan Sherer (all of which ran at York Theatre Royal and Edinburgh Fringe; tour venues included Theatre 503, the Arcola Theatre, the Mercury Theatre Colchester, and The Junction Cambridge), and "Under a Tree at the End of Time" by Dan Sherer (forthcoming). I have also established education and artist development programmes, including the Real Circumstance Lab series.

Search IdeasTap for "Real Circumstance" to join the Real Circumstance group.

Education: Pembroke College, Cambridge University (2004), BA Hons in Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic (yes, really).

  • Thanks again for leading the workshop yesterday, Anna. I found it all really useful, and the Arts Council form seems a lot less scary now! :)

  • Hello Anna,
I'm looking for a London (UK) Producer
There are Two Perfectly Good Me's: is an irreverent one woman show that takes a tongue in cheek look at what it was like to grow up in 60s pre multicultural UK as a Chinese kid, transracially adopted by a white family.
Premiered in November 2011 at the award winning New Diorama in London - now looking to take my show to the next stage.

You can see a recording of one of the original performances on my profile page the show has since then undergone further development but the video is a great point of reference regarding the themes, motifs and humour of the piece.
Initially to perform at as many inner London suitable fringe theatre venues as possible
. Then National tour Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff/Swansea, Liverpool, Glasgow/Edinburgh And
then if possible an International Tour - (Canada, US, Australia, Hong Kong)
I've taken the liberty of sending you a network request.
    Many thanks
    Lucy Sheen

It’s been receiving an enormous amount of Hype , Buzz and Critical acclaim in London .
    It
Was Cited as one of the top 5 shows at the 2011 London fringe by The Stage and it is about
to take The Edinburgh Fringe Festival by storm after winning a competition held by
The Old Vic New Voices !

    What’s It about?

It’s Friday and Joe is out on the night of his life. Kirsty has bought some vodka on the way home from school and is hastily shaving her legs with her friend’s dad’s razor. As bottles are drained and their worlds collide, a tale unfolds which will change their lives forever. Chapel Street is the debut play from one of the UK’s most promising new writers, Luke Barnes. Crackling with energy and dripping with humour; it is a bold, lyrical and deeply intimate portrayal of a disaffected generation, which carries a pertinence in the wake of UK riots and David Cameron addressing ‘Broken Britain’.

It is very unusual that a play like this , with a cast like this , by a writer like this gets shown at a hotel in Colchester . Colchester however happens to be home to someone who is involved in Chapel Street and that someone really wants to give the awesome people of Colchester a special opportunity to catch this brilliant production. All proceeds will be going towards further making sure that Chapel Street is successful at the Edinburgh fringe . Spread the word . don’t miss out . get your ticket now ! see you there
