I was born and brought up in South Devon. After completing an Art Foundation course at South Devon College I spent years travelling as I had an urge to see and experience more of the world before committing myself to a full time course. These years really opened my eyes and fuelled my interest in photography. As I travelled more I started to use the photography to document people and places and realised its significance as a tool to raise awareness. When I returned home I enrolled on a course at University of Wales Newport where I am currently studying Documentary photography. I am really enjoying being a student and the freedom and creativity the course allows. Although I now live in Bristol I often turn back to the South Hams for a source of inspiration for my photographs, it is a very colourful region full of character and has many of its own characters. In 2008 I won the Dartington Hall Trust and Western Morning News ‘Young photographer of the year’ competition and spent the following year documenting activities around the estate to add to the Dartington archives. I have been asked to continue this work documenting the Dartington International summer school of Music. I also work with a number of charities and the Youth Justice Board, taking pictures of young people that have been used in campaigns and documents.I have had brief teaching experience working as a photographer in residence at Ridgeway School in Plymouth.
