My name is Alex, and I am a 22yr old Dancer/Performance artist from Essex and trained in Dance Theatre at Plymouth University. I love coffee, egg and soldiers, and big old man socks.

My dance includes release based techniques to my training, with specificity to methods of practice which will allow me to take risks and embody the most natural way of moving. I am intrigued by the notion that different dance cultures can influence creative training processes, due to this I strive to encompass a multitude of movement languages as not to restrict myself to the ‘known’ bodily knowledge. Also, I will always be drawn to spaces in which many people can enjoy the different ways their body moves.

A concept that pleases me? the talking dancer! I am bored of watching dancers with absolutely amazing technique but a face like a robot. Dancers are real, not stern faced robots that dont breathe.. so I am drawn to choreographers and dacers that allow real expression into their work.

I find the concept of gyms thoroughly terrifying and vomit enducing. The idea that people use their bodies to look good and yet attempt to occupy their brains with whatever is on MTV at the same time makes me feel very sad. I wish that everyone could see that when involving ALL of youself in what you do, and engaging your brain in it, is a far more rewarding and positive process.

I am am a crazy creator, and dance is not the extent of it.. I am happy in any creative environment.

So if anyone wants to collaborate with me in the studio, spend the day people watching, or climb a tree... i'll bring the jam sandwiches.
