Ah, it's the age old and most dreaded interview question isn't it? It's often hard to think of a list of successful people that you base your whole work or life structure on off the top of your head. Many people who are asked this question, or who have asked themselves it don't know where to begin and often start up in a panic and just end up in confusion. Some people, however, know exactly who their prolific muses are and why and some people also have influences for different aspects of their lives. However you discover who inspires...
Who Inspires You?

Ah, it's the age old and most dreaded interview question isn't it? It's often hard to think of a list of successful people that you base your whole work or life structure on off the top of your head. Many people who are asked this question, or who have asked themselves it don't know where to begin and often start up in a panic and just end up in confusion. Some people, however, know exactly who their prolific muses are and why and some people also have influences for different aspects of their lives. However you discover who inspires you, it's important to choose wisely. So why are having influences important? As humans, we are constantly taking from what we know, what we read and what we discover to draw ideas from. From scientists to philosophers and even a piece of art, it's great to have someone, something or a group of people to create your own goals and make educated decisions. You don't need to compare yourself to anyone but it's gives you drive to know that someone out there has been successful in the field we wish to go into or someone who we think has great...

Buffalo Tide – Huge Chromosome (BLBX/ April 9, 2012) By Alexandra Sewell From the darker and danker recesses of the ever popular dubstep genre comes Buffalo Tide‘s double a-side Huge Chromosome. Released as a two-track single, it’s the brand new effort from influential dub/glitch producer and BLBX collective native, Christopher Oliver. BLBX was started by like-minded producers, such as Jermaine Soul, Ambi:Non, Kimberdrift and Crowstick, to create “independent, passionate and uncompromising” music, with an aim to utilise full synergy between the musicians’ mindset and ability in order to support and influence each other in their work. Huge Chromosome is...

Huge Chromosome is a dimly-lit, sweaty underground basement full of metallic, dripping tap beats and electronic bass drums. It’s seemingly a more personal single with both tracks taking about two months to make (a first for Oliver) and the familiarity with dubstep lulls the listener into a false sense of security by creating a morbid and cryptic atmosphere to the tempo of the tracks. ‘Mess Hall Malnutrition’ is minimal and choppy, alternating between light and heavy electric gradation and ‘What We See, What We Become, In The Desert’ uses fluttery but affirmative and robotic vocals and a dark come-down of dance bass samples...

Chronicle From the minds of Max Landis (son of John) and Josh Tranks’ comes a new ‘found footage’ sci-fi film starring Alex Russell, Dane De Haan and Michael B. Jordan as three high school students who form an unlikely friendship after acquiring telekinetic powers from an alien life form in a hole in the ground. Andrew (De Haan), an emphatic loner who begins documenting his melancholy (and quite often violent) existence using a expensive but second-hand camera. Aware of his apparant struggle and desperate for him to fit in, his jock and somewhat slacker cousin Matt (played by Alex...

Jordan as three high school students who form an unlikely friendship after acquiring telekinetic powers from an alien life form in a hole in the ground. Andrew (De Haan), an emphatic loner who begins documenting his melancholy (and quite often violent) existence using a expensive but second-hand camera. Aware of his apparant struggle and desperate for him to fit in, his jock and somewhat slacker cousin Matt (played by Alex Russell) persuades him to go to a rave at a nearby isolated barn. It is there he is lured by the popular star quarterback Steve (Michael B. Jordan) into the woods claiming he has discovered something strange. The three boys then start documenting thier new found powers, using them only for their own personal juvenile amusement until trouble of epic proportions brews when one of them starts using his powers for more sinister puposes. The Positives Newcomer and young Leo Dicaprio-esque De Haan displays a fantastic portrayal of a solitary teen with complex bitterness and angst, mainly due to his...

Tenacious D – Rize Of The Fenix – Columbia Records Official release date: Tuesday15th May 2012 After six long and arduous years and a questionable album cover design (yes, it’s a penis), the incomparable comedy rockers and self confessed “Greatest Band in the World,” Tenacious D are back and rocking harder than ever with new album Rize of the Fenix. To promote the release, a 6-minute mockumentary video named Tenacious D – To Be The Best went viral which gave a tongue-in-cheek and over exaggerated view of the band’s reunion. The video includes various celebrity cameos from the likes of Josh Grobin, Tim Robbins, Val Kilmer and of course Dave Grohl. The band also surprised fans with a preview release of the entire album via their SoundCloud page on 28th April. With crude puns, aliens and accustomed references to genitals, it’s hard to remember that the legendary duo ever left us. Returning with them are their usual zany escapades and ironic jests but with, as the title suggests, a sense of epic rebirth. The team manages to successfully poke fun at themselves by refering to their thwarted box office effort The Pick of Destiny and to bring some much...
