About me

Co-Artistic Director of theatre company A Bang in the Void, along with co-founder and best friend Laura Evans. Graduated from De Montfort University in 2013 with BA (Hons) in Performing Arts, First Class, and in 2014 with MA in Performance Practices at Distinction level.

A Bang in the Void works collaboratively to blend the boundaries between live and digital arts, searching for new platforms of human expression through inter and multimedial and interdisciplinary performance.

Laura and Andrew founded their theatre company whilst studying at university. They began with the devised piece '...what remains', which debuted at Embrace Arts, Leicester. After graduating in 2013, they secured a place on Curve Theatre's Young Arts Entrepreneurs Project, through which they received mentoring and support in creating a community arts project. They created a series of digital theatre-making workshops for secondary school children, ranging from age 11-16, which were included as part of Curve Theatre's 'Behind The Scenes' events.

Throughout this time, Andrew and Laura received mentoring and were placed on internships with theatre company Metro-Boulot-Dodo, working with them throughout the production process of their latest hit 'Safe House'. They travelled to Brighton with the team to create video work for their show, and created an immersive installation 'New Views' with the company for Curve's InsideOut festival. A Bang in the Void were also lucky enough to showcase their performance 'Ritual' at this festival, which created a platform for young, emerging talent in Leicester across the theatre venue.

A Bang in the Void also work as videographers, creating video work for Craig Vear's hypermedia concerto 'Black Cats and Blues' performed by Audrey Riley, Matthew Dummigan's dance performance ADRONE as performed at Let's Dance International Festival, a series of videos for the New Walk Museum in Leicester's German Expressionism Exhibition and for De Montfort University's Performing Arts course, as part of the company's Associate Artist partnership with the department.
