Members of the Lincoln Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society are busy taking the audience back to the wild, wild west with Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma!   On at Lincoln Theatre Royal until Saturday, April 9, this epic show has everything you would wish for — great harmonies, creative choreography, sumptuous sets and fine musicianship.   Christian Norton is likeable as the lovesick Curly who is desperate to win the hand of Laurey, excellently played by Katie Warnsby. Nicci Turnbull acts like a dumb blonde as Ado Annie Carnes as she cannot make up her mind between Will Parker, played by Simon Calver and Ali Hakim, wonderfully played by Andy Morris.   Simon Nicholson is outstanding as the farmhand Jud Fry, who is in love with Laurey. For me, it is Elizabeth Yee who steals the show. She has to age up to play Aunt Eller, but has a lovely husky American voice suitable for the role. She commands great stage presence. The chorus work well but for me the show is a little too long at three hours — DAB.   http://www.newarkadvertiser.co.uk/articles/leisure/Taste-of-the-wild-west

About me

Hi there,

I'm a Lincoln-based performer and techie, with both professional and amateur credits. I'd like to network with other creative types :
a) to promote myself and my own events to new contacts (obviously);
but also b) to find out about other events in my area (am an avid audience member as well).

My chief disciplines are acting (in film, radio and theatre) and singing (alto to top soprano), with a bit of dance thrown in, plus stage management. Over the years, I've also directed, choreographed, designed, constructed, lit my way through hundreds of stage productions. About the only thing I've never done is sound.

Overall, I guess, I consider myself a storyteller and entertainer.

Look out for these events, coming soon :
JUNE Anything Goes (Cole Porter's musical)
JULY Pirates of Penzance (Gilbert & Sullivan)
AUGUST Some Like It Hot (CATS variety show)
