We zip through life at such a pace, endlessly rotating through work and rest, that we fail to notice the strangeness that pervades the everyday. From the skewed smile of the man across the carriage, to the spectral sound of air moving through an empty station at one in the morning, we live in world that is at once dreamlike and utterly solid. PartingShot is a new company formed by students from Bristol and Oxford that aims to remind you of the mystery in the mundane.


‘One Under’ will be a devised piece of theatre that explores what it is to travel on the London Underground today. Using interviews conducted with those that work and travel on the tube, we intend to get beneath the delays and disgruntlement, the sweat and stress. Under the stereotype, in the silence of the carriage, bodies brush against each other, dreams abound, and lives intersect in strange and surprising ways.
