As an actor, I've never really found myself fitting into a box - I've played pervy old men (Fagin in Oliver!), androgynous woodland creatures (Puck), a gimp (Tartuffe), a 24 year-old Aussie girl (When the Rain Stops Falling), a 28 year-old murderer (Bash), a flamboyant Russian pretending to be something he isn't (The Government Inspector) and all the female characters in a play (An Italian Straw Hat). I stare at strangers on trains inappropriate amounts as I try to come up with their entire backstories and I've watched every Wes Anderson film in chronological order. I've recently founded an all-female theatre company called Footfall, which aims to give women more of a voice in theatre, specifically in Shakespeare plays. Footfall's first production performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer - a three-woman version of King Lear, using Shakespeare's original text - receiving sell-out audiences and fantastic reviews. We are now in the process of transferring Lear's Daughters to London, and are thinking up our next project!
