? My work is ever evolving. Although I read and write more and more, I would find it difficult to pin down a concrete style as yet. Reading so many great poets means that I draw influence from and strive to write in a better way constantly. My favourite poets at the moment are Helen Ivory (whose collection The Double Life of Clocks was leant to me by a teacher at school and is one of the reasons I write today), Moniza Alvi, Paul Farley, Sam Riviere, Selima Hill, I really could go on for a while. I suppose, stylistically I am interested in Surrealism in poetry, I’m a fan of free verse in particular and feel that for page poetry, rhyme (unless used scarcely and for the effect of an after observation about how clever the poet was to slip in the poetical device without you even noticing) can interrupt my personal enjoyment of a poem. Performance poetry is something I admire and strive to discover more about. Having founded and run a poetry society at uni, I feel it’s one of the best ways of getting people talking about poetry, getting people involved and excited about poetry...

My First Set

About me

During my degree I founded the Brunel Poetry Society and went on to perform with the society at a night of poetry with Benjamin Zephaniah which I helped to organise. I have co-founded Blyth poets since finishing my degree which grows in number every session. I have organised a night of poetry at The Electric Picture Palace in Southwold with poets Esther Morgan, Helen Ivory, Martin Figura and Tom Warner, this includes publicity, organisation of the programme and conversing with and booking the poets. I will also be volunteering at the Aldeburgh Poetry Festival. I have had my poetry published in Ink, Sweat and Tears, The Cadaverine and Popshot. I'm an editor at the Poetry Archive.
I'm a member of Camden Poets and am poetry editor for the new webzine Inky Needles.
