About me

I am a fourth year Drama and Theatre Studies Undergraduate at the University of Kent, currently in my fourth year of study, specialising in Contemporary Performance Practice at a pre-professional level. I am extremely interested in contemporary/devised theatre, in particular, Auto/biographical Theatre, and hope to develop and build upon this interest over the year.

Alongside my studies I am currently in the process of co-writing a script for Entita Theatre, exploring the character of Ophelia from Shakespeare's 'Hamlet' for a show, 'Method in Madness' which will premier at International Youth Festival (IYAF) in Kingston this July. This will be the second Entita Production that I have been involved with.

For me, performing, is at the forefront of everything I do – whether it be devising a piece, or straight acting, performing is something I wish to continue to develop and build upon.

In August 2012, at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, I played the only female lead role in Entita’s production, ‘Fall to the Top’ which was a modern day version of Macbeth based on the finance and banking sector. This was a physical theatre production which was both demanding and challenging but extremely rewarding. I very much enjoyed the experience of working and performing as part of a company and would like to develop this further.

Last term I I co-directed Roald Dahl’s ‘George’s Marvellous Medicine’ which was performed at the Marlowe Theatre. This was my first shot at directing and I absolutely loved it. From the beginning, I felt that it was important to work as part of a collaborative team, as opposed to the production just being my vision; I wanted our cast to have their creative visions recognised and valued too, and I feel that this was a real strength of my directing style. This venture was extremely successful, and highlighted for me that I am very much a ‘devising’ performer. Directing my own cast, and working alongside another director highlighted for me my ability to work well with a number of different people. The show was then taken to the International Youth Festival in Kingston (2013).

In addition to the above, I am also the Secretary for the Physical Theatre Society at University, working alongside other committee members to ensure that the society is running well, and that all members are enjoying their sessions with us.
