Hannie McBride is a multi disciplinary artist working as a director, writer and actor in theatre and film, as well as fronting North London based band Dazes. A trained classical singer and skilled songwriter, Hannie is a graduate of the Young Actors Studio by the National Institute Dramatic Art, Australia. She grew up in both the UK and overseas, immersed in the Melbourne music scene.

Returning to the UK to take up a place on the highly selective and prestgious three year BA Directing course at Drama Centre London, she has had an intensive classical training, developing a unique personal process that has, at its heart, an innate emotional understanding of the actor, and has been mentored by Northern Stage Artistic Director Lorne Campbell. She has become an experienced Assistant Director for theatre and First Assistant Director for film, has a good eye for Art Direction, and skills in Stage Management. A long time writer, Hannie has adapted classical texts for stage and radio, composes poetry and lyrics in her spare time and has just finished her first play.

Her work is infused with a dynamic and impassioned physical language, an urgent need to explore the socio economic issues of our time, and a fresh engaging eye for pop and youth culture and aesthetics. She has particular interests in immersive theatre, modern adaptations of classical texts, new British writing, politics and female characters and stories.
