A line drawn between Cowley's car plant and Oxford university, two buildings that have shaped Oxford, would dissect several key destinations for the city's inactive communities. Along this route are schools, workplaces and shops that are overwhelmingly driven to, despite the city's high levels of cycling. This project's aim is that through adding cultural appreciation of local places, people will walk more in these places more frequently. A line drawn between Cowley's car plant and Oxford university, two buildings that have shaped Oxford, would dissect several key destinations for the city's inactive communities. This project's aim is that through adding cultural appreciation of local places, people will walk more in these places more frequently. Oxford Business Park South is a prime example of people not using active travel for local journeys. Home to 69 businesses employing roughly 5500 people, this area of Oxford has low walking and cycling to work numbers. Therefore this area of Oxford will be a key focus for the projects engagement. I will work with graduates, emerging designers and established artists to design a cultural heritage route. I will also plan a walk guided by artist and former Professor of Drawing at Ruskin School of Fine Art Richard Wentworth CBE along the route. Monitoring and evaluation will be conducted through participants of this guided walk. Those who attend the walk will complete a physical activity questionnaire on the walk, and followng the walk at 1 month and 3 month intervals to monitor...

Active By Design

About me

12 years old at Donnington Middle School in Oxford is when I started my crusade to save the world.I made art eco books for Blue Peter, organised and took part in sponsored silents (me? yes me staying silent), cakes bought, cakes baked, cake sales and of course digging the wild life garden. Four years later I made it to sixth form, and with friends we formed an arts collective called artisjustaword, which holds the simple belief that everyone is creative. Fifteen years later this arts collective is facilitating creative projects.
I am passionate that everyone in this world has the right to explore their imagination, to play and to have an education. With 7.003 billion people in this world the population is growing and new challenges are facing us.
