I am a musical-theatre writer, singer-songwriter, comedienne and general creative.
Ok, lets go backwards.
From September, I will be attending the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Course at New York University. Yes I will be living in New York. Somewhere in New York.
In 2014, I took my musical on a US tour (including off-broadway) and performed it in London. The casted version of the musical was also accepted into the New York Musical Theatre Festival, however, it was so unexpected that I sadly had to decline. Over the summer, the musical is going to North Devon FringeFest, returning to the Edinburgh Fringe and headlining Bristol Pride's theatre night. Meanwhile I am conducting the Ionian Clarinet Choir, attending the second year of Book, Music and Lyrics workshops (as a composer) and the first year of the librettist workshops. Oh, and being Assistant Administrator at an accountancy firm.
In 2013, I rewrote the musical for it's first appearance at the Edinburgh Fringe and then took it on a redevelopment tour in the autumn and cobbled together the casted version that was performed in a small venue in North London. I took comedy more seriously, including openspots on pronights with headliners such as Russell Howard, Jon Richardson and Mark Thomas. I also joined Book, Music and Lyrics from March.
From 2008 I attended Bristol University, where I completed a BA in Music and MA in Composition. During this time, I sang with, conducted, arranged and organised concerts for The University of Bristol Barbershop Society, as well as a lot of other societies. During my masters I turned my focus onto the composers' society, competing in Open Mic UK, recording an EP and making my Edinburgh Fringe debut. The musical was first written straight after Edinburgh.
I was admitted into Mill Hill Country High School on a music place and went to Haberdashers' Aske School for Girls for sixth form, where I performed with St Katherine singers (Habs award winning singing ensemble).
School was a blur of extra-curricular activities, including Finchley Children's Music Group (a prestigious children's choir), wind orchestras, flute choirs, dance and drama lessons. I also achieved Grade 8 singing, Grade 8 flute, Grade 7 piano, Grade 5 theory and Bronze level LAMDA drama exam.
