Three's Company charts the trials and tribulations of a group of three actors beginning their theatrical careers on a Theatre In Education tour of the UK. They soon realise that the dizzying heights they had envisioned for their careers aren't as attainable as first presumed. Instead they must earn their stars on the fringe of an industry that often demands their debasement. The main driving force of the series is the dynamic between the three main characters, Greg, Brad and Claire. Classic comedies such as Father Ted and The IT Crowd use the combination of varying and contrasting stereotypes to create humour. For example, the idiot and the academic, the geeks and the social pariah. Much the same can be said of Three's Company. The casting and structure of a generic schools tour demands three contrasting actors. In this case we have the focal point and narrator of the series Greg, a neurotic, geeky, slightly upper class and quirky graduate; Brad a good-looking, streetwise, edgy and confident upstart; and Claire, top of her class, headstrong and highly opinionated.
