Attached here is the libretto for a possible scene in the opera. In it Roger Casement, our protagonist and anti-hero, discusses imperialism with Joseph Conrad, later relating a dire vision he had while dreaming. The two are in the town of Matadi in the Congo. Casement and Conrad did indeed meet in the Congo, but the discussion between the two has been invented by me. I hope that this scene can demonstrate my abilities as a librettist.

About me

I am a composer and writer based in Northern Ireland with experience in writing contemporary classical music for the concert hall and theatre. Over the next couple of years I will be working on a brand new full-length opera based on the life of British diplomat turned Irish revolutionary Roger Casement.
