About me

I'm currently an undergraduate of Lancaster University studying English Literature and Theatre Studies. Lancaster is home to the Lancaster Institute of Contemporary Arts and the Live@LICA season at the Nuffield Theatre - the on campus blackbox theatre - has given me the opportunity to watch some of the most innovative productions from around the UK and the rest of Europe, from Forced Entertainment's Tomorrow's Parties, to Gob Squad's Western Society, physical theatre productions like Ockham's Razor's Not Until We Are Lost and Junk Ensemble's The Falling Song, productions from local practitioners such as Andy Smith and Tim Crouch's What Happens To The Hope At The End Of The Evening, and innovative dance, such as that of Candoco Dance Company.

As well as getting the chance to see a lot of theatre, I perform and direct a great deal myself, being heavily involved in Lancaster University Theatre Group. I've also created a piece of devised physical theatre with a company of young performers called the Lancaster Offshoots, for which I used a variety of devising techniques, notably some of Frantic Assembly's, I later wrote a script using material sourced from the performers, and directed the piece itself. The resultant show, Neverland, was taken to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2014. I have also formed my own company, Erratic Ensemble, a group of young performers based in Lancaster, producing one immersive and radical plays every year in new and interesting spaces, often utilising the historical sites of the old city of Lancaster, making each production more intimate and familiar to audiences.

I've been a member of the National Youth Theatre since 2013. I am also a keen amateur writer and poet, an accomplished tap dancer and an average guitarist...
