I am an actor, writer and video production assistant.

So I act (my first love), I write (theatre reviews for the Islington Gazette, short stories, the beginnings of a novel, pitch documents) and I produce video for a London video production company to pay the mortgage. And I am loving all of it!

As an actor my specialities are plays with demanding texts, so Shakespeare, Wilde, Coward, and many a Georgian tragi-comedy are where you will find me at my best. Rehearsed readings and R&D also firm favourites: quick thinking, great sight reading skills and an analytical ability to dissect and reassemble a text in quick turn around all requisite skills. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE watching physical theatre, dance work, pantos, the full gamut, but I know my strengths, and I'll leave that work to the talented folk at Tangled Feet! [Of course there is the discussion to be had: "What IS physical theatre? Isn't every piece of theatre physical?" But we will leave that to another day. Suffice to say when I am on stage my physicality is as important as the words coming out of my mouth, I just can't do a very good handstand.]

The writing is starting to blossom from reviewing theatre and dance for The Islington Gazette, into something much more present in my daily life. I attend a weekly writing group which is fantastic for providing support and motivation, and am now regularly entering short story competitions. No prizes yet! (well, it's early days) but watch this space! Iin case anyone is wondering, as a creative myself, my review angle is all about pointing out the plus points primarily rather than dragging through the mud. There is always something that can be praised, in any piece of work. Dedication, passion, a great idea, there's something we can learn from in everything we see.

And finally, producing. A year ago I took a day job as Production Assistant in a London-based video production company, and have discovered a new love! So, if anyone wants a freelance production assistant, drop me a line!
