I have explored different areas of performing as well as acting such as directing and stage-managing. I have directed a version of "Antigone" by Sophocles as well as stage-manage productions of Oliver, where I was also the stage designer and constructor. Both of these require a steady mind and sharp focus as well as the ability to make quick decisions to counter problems in a performance, however the greatest thing performing has imparted on me is a strong sense of cooperation and organisation.

Working as a member of the youth theatre has been most useful in developing key skills. Taking part in many workshops and productions wherever possible I have been able to experience a wide range of theatre styles and practices. As well as developing and nurturing my abilities as an actor the work I have taken part in has also inspired me to extend my experiences further than acting. One of the biggest successes I have had, as a result of my time at YYT is I have grown in confidence. I can now stand in front of large groups of people and talk in a calm and accessible manner as well as communicate efficiently with directors and fellow actors. Theatre itself, as an art, is useful in developing cooperation as part of a team as well as individuality and confidence in oneself. Through some of the activities I have been afforded the chance to volunteer and give back to others what I myself have received, maintaining a healthy environment between all those involved at the Theatre of all ages. The work done here has been crucial in inspiring me forward to my goals and has given me the confidence to do so.
