Currently in Glasgow town, attending the RSAMD, high-speeding my way through a one year MA in directing - classic and contemporary text. So far, involving a new commission with Playwright Studio Scotland, a devised take on Mark Ravenhill's Women of Troy, Hamlet at the Globe, devising with a dance company, Lecoq training, the Bard in the Botanics and devising a new one-on-one piece. Staying wide-eyed and marvelled as the tea cups keep spinning...---A theatre maker, coming from a visual art and circus/cabaret background with a love of all the sins that the umbrella of "physical theatre" covers and a devotion to words. Engaged with the getting-your-hands dirty making of theatre - from the ground up, to the audience review. I'm inspired by immersive shows, darkness and humour, plays that illuminate and push boundaries, and new and substantial ways to write and find and make those plays. Stories, always stories - both ancient, archetypal, classical...and new words, for new times, now.The possibility of spectacle, the fantastic, popular forms, visceral engagement, live art, creativity, live music, mixing sound/word/art/mediums and a strong aesthetic, visual drive are what colour my style. The community aspects, including children's work and leading workshops, are both icing and cherry.Give me Gilliam, George Grosz, Foucault, Forced Entertainment, Barker, Lacan, Christian Schad, Abramovic, del Toro, Kneehigh, Primo Levi, Bukowski, Nan Goldin, Punchdrunk, F. Scott Fitzgerald...Since starting the MA, I've been darting about the British isles and wandering back and forth across the Central Belt, getting all the experience and learning I can under my nails so I can start pasting and painting and pulling some gorgeous stuff together. Beg. Steal. Borrow.Theatre is the most potent form of communication today. It is living, live, breathing right in front of you. It can confront our globalised world in all it's horror and harmony; it can tell epic stories or tenderly reveal forgotten corners; it can tell you, involve you, present to you, surround you, drag you in, have some fun, kick you out, ask more of you, and it is important and it is beautiful and it is mad.

Congrats once again on the job, Debbie. Welcome to the wonderful (and slightly manic) world of NTS.
