Brendan Murphy

Actor, comedian, runner, IdeasTap member, hero - Brendan will run the 2012 London marathon for us and O2E.org after winning last year's The Marathon brief.

Tim and Ollie went to school together. They did their first race together on mountain bikes in their early teens. The real action didn’t start till a few years ago though, when they both found themselves living in London and looking for a challenge…

“It was one of those things,” says Ollie. “We were living together and thinking, ‘We need to do something, let’s do something extraordinary’. We were chatting to a local cycling expert who ran a specialist branch and he told us, ‘Look, if you guys are really serious then you need to have a look at Race Across America’. It wasn’t something we’d heard of – it doesn’t really get that much PR in the UK, but we looked at it and immediately said, ‘Let’s do it!’ 

“At that stage it was just me and Tim – it was just us for a long time. We built the team from scratch and once we’d got a couple of key people on board slowly it started becoming a reality.

“For a long time we were trying to find sponsorship through lots of small private businesses. Then IdeasTap got wind of it and we were able to forge the relationship we have now.”
