So they completed the sleepless slog across the Mojave Desert, the Rockies and the Great Plains of America. What’s next for the intrepid Roses?
The X-Man Extreme Triathlon
This is the first fully Off-Road Iron Distance Triathlon and the first event of its kind to take place in England. Athletes will swim, cycle and run from Eastbourne to Salisbury (140 miles). They will need to prove themselves tougher than the terrain. And all in a day.
X-Man promises to present The Roses with their greatest challenge yet. It doesn’t take any support in terms of crew and this time they are going as a team of two. Ollie and Tim will be completely self-sufficient.
“It was the most extreme thing that we could find in the UK,” says Ollie. “Me and Tim were having a chat over the phone, both on the internet at the same time and thinking, ‘What do we do now with all this fitness we’ve got?’ We’ve both done regular Ironmans on the road but we needed something a bit more. It’s going to be brutal by all accounts. Cycling through the night with very technical off-road trails is a challenge in itself.”
